This dark-skinned red wine is the result of a scientific-oriented cultivation. Created at the German Institute of Grapevine Breeding in the Palatinate, this wine is a mix of hybrids with European and American roots. After successful experimental plantings Regent was permitted for cultivation in Germany in 1996.

This wine has a moderate acidity with aromas of cherries and black currants. It might be matured in barrique barrels.
